🎴 If My Name Were Moon Tonight… 🌛🌝🎑🈷 with Clair de Lune 🌕

Music Animation of “If My Name Were Moon Tonight” with Clair de Lune

Dear Readers,

SoundEagle🦅 is waiting to amplify your affinity for and engagement with the Moon🌕 and the Transfigured Night🎴 as you fully embrace and experience this enchanting post to fathom the very art, poetry and spirit imbued with the sense of awe derived from contemplating the imaginatively celestial and existentially cosmological by immersing yourself in the scenario of asking emphatically and empathetically what could indeed transpire If My Name Were Moon Tonight…

If My Name Were Moon Tonight…

The video above is best viewed in full screen on a desktop or laptop computer, given that the animation was rendered and recorded in high definition (1920 x 1280).

Watch the lunar body coming alive with celestial vibrancy as the scintillating Full Moon is energized enthrallingly by eye-catching astronomical phenomena and stellar activities.

SoundEagle in Full Moon, Sky, Mountain and Wolf

If my name were Moon tonight…🌕☄️✨
Would you play me hawk sonatas
And make my heart swoon outright
With a hill full of nostalgias…?

If I could cease to be Earth’s satellite…
Would you wrench me closer with gravity
To be larger, brighter by your campsite
On the mountain before my next journey…?

If my aim were Moon by starlight…
Would you howl me a lunar tune
That sings of my light-year spaceflight
Drifting through Milky Way’s lagoon…?

If I came as the Moon tonight…
Would you play me eagle concerti
On the hill awash in moonlight
Enchanted by tonal fantasy…?

If my name were Moon tonight…
Would you propose to me with wolf symphonies
And hear my soul croon forthright
Across old memories and new destinies…?

Postlude

If my name were Moon tonight…
Which spell would you recite
To turn this blue butterfly 🦋
Into thousands in the sky…?

If I waned and hid from view…
Would you yearn for my returning
With an entrancing debut
As a mysterious prince charming…?

If my name were Moon tonight…
Would you promenade your cloud
To cajole mystic starlight
As I serenade aloud…?

Yours sincerely,Rose Greeting

Reign not SoundEagle's Flight, For I seek thy Crested Might.

If my name were Moon tonight…
Who would you kindly invite
To view my April festoon 🌕
As I turn pink or maroon…?

If I came to you in pink tonight…
Which fine tune would you strum for me
By the lake with campfire so bright
That stars swirl to your melody…?

Coda

If I showed you Aurora tonight…
Would you stay and keep me company
With your ravishing costume in sight
For a moment or eternity…?
If my name were Moon tonight…
Would you honour Mother Earth
With conservation foresight
To safeguard its future worth…?

  13. Hello SoundEagle. While I am not versed enough in either poetry or in music to given much in a thoughtful comment on those aspects I can say the beginning of the music on the animation could be developed in to a stead low volume music to play in a babies / young child’s room to soothe them. The entire thing could be developed for a screen saver that I think would do very well. Best wishes. Hugs

  14. I hope to come back to the music at another time. I’ve got a husband sleeping on the couch… and I do not have my headphones handy.

    I hadn’t thought about 10 10 20 20 as being lucky but mathematically 😉

An honorable ode to all those who love in the moment hoping for the extension of more time whether two people in love or parent and child. I ‘lost’ my maternal mother at a young age… And no one spoke much of her. But I think of her everyday and thank her for giving me life.

I had to check out the ‘Poetry’ category first as it’s the language that resonates with my mind the most. I’ve to say, I absolutely adored this poem and especially the quoted stanza! The moon is a simple phenomena and yet, it seems to be the ink of harmonies.

I wonder, if your name was the moon, where would you go when the phase of being a ‘new moon’? Where do you hide?

I unfortunately couldn’t read the weighty articles as there seems to be a bit of a language barrier (the vocabulary is impressively advanced) but I do hope with the continuity of my studies, I’ll be able to discuss the ideas portrayed there.

Note: Your website is inspiringly well-made. The usage of multimedia is stunning, to say the least.

    • Dear Nour R.,

Welcome! You have debuted here with an excellent comment characterized by an amicable disposition and a penchant for appreciating poetry. How very encouraging and delightful indeed that you have responded to the rhyming poem entitled If My Name Were Moon Tonight… so well and held it in such high regard!

Thank you very much for complimenting SoundEagle🦅 on the titular poem as well as the website and multimedia. In addition, SoundEagle🦅 looks forward to your perusing one of “the weighty articles” entitled The Quotation Fallacy “💬”, which reveals that people are often their own worst enemies, being hampered, confined and stymied by their own demons, beliefs, ignorance, inertias, mindsets, fears, bigotries, insecurities, follies and foibles, in spite of, or even because of, their humanity, culture and upbringing. This very special post has cited numerous terms and examples that encapsulate some of the commonest pitfalls in human perceptions and behaviours, many of which routinely evade our attention and conscious control, even in the mere act of choosing, reading or using any quotation or statement. Hence, the Quotation Fallacy is always upon us, impinging and seeping into our lives in various ways. All in all, it is indeed quite difficult to live a well examined life, which is neither a high priority nor an achievable goal for most folks, even though such a priority or goal has become more paramount and essential, considering the urgency of many mounting global issues.

Apart from poetry, how have you fared with the latest foray by SoundEagle🦅 into Music Animation with Dynamic Visualization presented in high definition and imbued with a scintillating full moon surrounded by eye-catching astronomical phenomena and stellar activities?

Since you “absolutely adored this poem and especially the quoted stanza”, SoundEagle🦅 would like to sign off with an extra stanza as a partial response to your questions. Please feel free to respond in kind.

SoundEagle🦅 has just visited and liked your post entitled “Jerusalem twilight, or: Captured” presenting the following haiku:

      Jerusalem sky
      twilight gashes; mauve and peach
      soon to disappear

Given that you published this haiku on 27 April 2021, did you manage to observe the Super Pink Moon, which is the very first super moon of 2021? What a night it was to behold the full moon shining upon the landscape in all its grandeur, and to reflect deeply in the moment!

Please be informed that since you last commented here in January, this moon-themed post has undergone expansion and dramatic improvement. What really sets this post apart is the Music Animation with Dynamic Visualization, plus the bespoke style and content imbued with eye-catching animations throughout the whole post from top to bottom. Therefore, you are cordially invited to take another detailed tour of this post.

In order to see all of the animations, please make sure that you view the post in situ, avoiding the WordPress Reader.

Moreover, since you consider the poem in this post to be “lovely” and “love to read more”, you will be pleased to know that the poem has been extended with a Postlude containing three stanzas, followed by two stanzas pertaining to the Pink Supermoon 2021.

Looking forward to reading your esteemed and unfettered feedback on this multimedia offering!

SoundEagle🦅 wonders which version of “Clair de Lune” presented in this post is your favourite, and whether you have had a chance to enjoy the stylized animation and musical visualization of “Clair de Lune” in full-screen mode on your desktop or laptop computer.

In addition, please kindly accept a symbolic, spiritual and intellectual validation of your coming of age as a special orchid. May you enjoy your experience of the other unique blog of SoundEagle🦅 entitled “✿❀ Queensland Orchid International ❀✿” in recognizing and resonating with the unfolding potential of your life as encapsulated by your self-introduction:

Dandelions are bright yellow flowers that can grow on just about any lawn upon which their seeds fall. Orchids however, needs very specific conditions in which to flourish and blossom.

I grew up in a lot of dandelion homes and was exposed to a lot of pesticide. I am that Orchid still waiting for the right environment. I hold out hope that one day I can too become the beautiful flower I was meant to be.

      • Ros,
I grew up with years of unspeakable childhood abuse. The trauma left me with hidden scars I could not bear and at 18 I attempted my life. In the psychiatric hospital I met a 60 year-old Cardiac surgeon . He had lost his license to practice medicine for showing up to the operating theatre drunk. We both for, different reasons, had lost the will to live. For some reason seeing me so young with the life gone from my eyes, it saddened and inspired him to play that piano for me. He also played Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata for me:

I will never forget him, the music, or the kindness he gave me. His love at times, willed my very soul to carry on.

To answer your question it was Claude Debussy’s piano version he played which was also my favorite version on your post. I am so sorry that I cannot view the animation on my iPad. I’m sure it’s spectacular. I will try and view it at a later time though. You strike me as wildly intelligent and most interesting! I don’t know if I am even bright enough to be in your company.

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful, meaningful, and special validation. I still have so many miles more to travel on my journey. I haven’t received anything this special since my late mother was alive. I am truly grateful.

        Warmly,
        Bostongirl 🌷

      • Considering how significant “Clair de Lune” has been for you, SoundEagle🦅 is inclined to deduce that the piano is your most beloved instrument. Have you ever learnt to play the piano or other musical instrument?

Do you find SoundEagle🦅’s rendition of “Clair de Lune” on the organ too far removed from your expectation and appreciation of its original version for solo piano? Do you find the organ version a satisfactory contrast to the piano version by providing extra depth and character to the piece?

Thank you for intimating something so private about yourself. Childhood trauma resulting from abuse can indeed have long-lasting impacts and indelible scars on the human psyche. Such an assault on one’s foundational years is especially egregious not just because there exists such lopsided power differential between the abused and the abuser but also because the minor involved have limited psychological reserve and emotional fortitude to withstand and contextualize such harrowing experiences. Consequently, the damage tends to be more severe and permanent.

Nevertheless, time and wisdom will eventually bring more clarity and resolutions to our lives. It seems that there remain some positive experiences and reassuring memories from your past insofar as you still cherish the special gifts, tokens, keepsakes or heirlooms that your late mother had given you. To that extent, we are both in the same boat. Perhaps you might consider publishing a post about your (relationship with your) mother on your blog, as SoundEagle🦅 has done so in this special eulogy-cum-memoir-cum-biography.Rose Greeting

      • I didn’t find SoundEagle🦅’s rendition of “Clair de Lune” on the organ too far removed from any expectation at all. When I heard Debussy’s version, it literally transported me back in time to that tiny room with that Doctor “B”, it was as if I was there again listening to him play. Bittersweet I suppose.

I have full appreciation for SoundEagle🦅’s organ version and apologize for not having said so. It is both dreamy and enchanting in a way that cannot be achieved in the original piece. It is quite lovely.

I grew up playing the violin and later the flute, I sometimes tried my hand at playing my neighbor’s piano as she taught me several chords. I also played another friend’s clarinet. However, singing is my first love. It brings me the most joy. I like to find the harmony in songs. I enjoy most kinds of music with few exceptions.

Per your suggestion, I have not been writing as much as I used to on my former blog. I am unsure if I should continue writing at all. I don’t really have much talent and never had a lot of traffic. I am not like you, neither talented nor gifted. Sadly, I am just ordinary. The third anniversary of my mother’s death was only a few days ago. I miss her so….She saw the good in everyone, I believe I received that ability from her.

I do have have many special gifts, tokens, and heirlooms that my late mother gave me. The greatest of which was the ability to love. ❤️

        Take care dear Ros

Hello! Mirroring the title and the first paragraph of your post entitled “What do you want to write”, SoundEagle🦅 hereby asks: “what do I want to comment?” Well, here comes the answer:

Your said post is brimming with spirited accounts of your life’s various events and folks, so much so that one felt as though one has been tossed into a buffet to sample bits and pieces of your latest recollections of certain special moments and unusual happenings.

SoundEagle🦅 is delighted that this moon-themed multimedia post has resonated with you in such a profound and heartfelt manner, and is touched by your revealing its musical connection to your late mother in your reply to SoundEagle🦅’s long comment submitted to your post entitled “Even irregularity has a rhythm” as follows, just prior to composing your previous comment:

Dear SoundEagle, thanks for the love, compassion and great artistry you bring here. I don’t have much time at the moment to leave an equal reply, but I wanted to let you know that I just watched your video and I surprised myself by bursting into tears. My mom used to play Claire de Lune on the piano and Debussy is my favourite classical composer. Hearing it was like hearing her come back to life, as she used to play very well. The art in the video made it very special. The tears are a great release. Huge, heart-soaring thanks to you.

Both of your comments have rendered SoundEagle🦅 sentimental insofar as SoundEagle🦅 used to perform “Clair de Lune” on the organ for a highly beloved person, as documented in a special eulogy-cum-memoir-cum-biography, which you are very welcome to peruse. There is a parallel between us in that “Clair de Lune” reminds us of our mothers.

This five-stanza rhyming poem has recently been lovingly extended with a Postlude containing three stanzas, followed by two stanzas pertaining to the Pink Supermoon 2021, and another two for the Coda, thus making a total of twelve stanzas. Furthermore, the entire post is festooned with animations from top to bottom, even in this very comment.

Please enjoy! Happy Sunday to you!

Just as the Moon takes its light from the Sun, they sought to illuminate seemingly inaccessible subjects indirectly, by creating reflections. Here we have masks and dancing, fantastic disguises, fountains sobbing in ecstasy, moonlight: a swirl of suggestive images that speaks volumes about the human soul without really saying anything. Rather like music, in fact. Both Ravel and Faure composed pieces based on Verlaine’s poetry, and this poem inspired Claude Debussy to write his own ‘Clair de lune’, the third movement of his

    • Dear 北方榆 (Northern Elm)

How wonderful of you to translate the first four stanzas of SoundEagle🦅’s rhyming poem titled If My Name Were Moon Tonight… into Chinese!

As you can see, this poem has not just four but twelve stanzas, which unfold in the following fashion:

If my name were Moon tonight…
Would you play me hawk sonatas
And make my heart swoon outright
With a hill full of nostalgias…?

If I could cease to be Earth’s satellite…
Would you wrench me closer with gravity
To be larger, brighter by your campsite
On the mountain before my next journey…?

If my aim were Moon by starlight…
Would you howl me a lunar tune
That sings of my light-year spaceflight
      Drifting through Milky Way’s lagoon…?

If I came as the Moon tonight…
Would you play me eagle concerti
On the hill awash in moonlight
      Enchanted by tonal fantasy…?

If my name were Moon tonight…
Would you propose to me with wolf symphonies
And hear my soul croon forthright
Across old memories and new destinies…?

      Postlude

If my name were Moon tonight…
      Which spell would you recite
      To turn this blue butterfly
      Into thousands in the sky…?

If I waned and hid from view…
Would you yearn for my returning
      With an entrancing debut
      As a mysterious prince charming…?

If my name were Moon tonight…
      Would you promenade your cloud
      To cajole mystic starlight
      As I serenade aloud…?

      Pink Supermoon 2021

If my name were Moon tonight…
      Who would you kindly invite
      To view my April festoon
As I turn pink or maroon…?

If I came to you in pink tonight…
Which fine tune would you strum for me
By the lake with campfire so bright
That stars swirl to your melody…?

      Coda

If I showed you Aurora tonight…
Would you stay and keep me company
With your ravishing costume in sight
      For a moment or eternity…?

If my name were Moon tonight…
      Would you honour Mother Earth
      With conservation foresight
      To safeguard its future worth…?

SoundEagle🦅 would be even more delighted if you could kindly translate the rest of the poem. The Chinese version will then be stylishly presented with full credit to you as the translator. Thank you in anticipation.

I began piano around 3 and could play by ear until I got a cruel, physically punishing teacher. I haven’t played in decades. But, I babble. Your YouTube video had me smiling with tears in my eyes. So gorgeous. Your unbelievably sweet and beautiful poem had me mesmerized from the opening line. I wanted to be the object of the moon’s desire. Maroon was our biggest high school color, so you brought back memories there. And, who doesn’t like good surprises??? I want to meet that person if he or she exists. Another odd thing was that the poem seemed longer than before…maybe I missed part of it the first time through. Your poem was just a pleasure to the senses. Thank you for writing it! Bravo!! • Dear Susan,

SoundEagle🦅 is greeting you here for the first time with a manifestly bespoke and animated reply to welcome you to this intellectual home, sonic nest, musical den and artistic eyrie. It is indeed delightful that you have been able to resonate with the well-illustrated and animated contents of this post, and to relate to them so personally and meaningfully with fond reminiscences and nostalgias. One may reasonably conclude that this twelve-stanza tetrapartite rhyming poem and eye-catching animations distributed throughout the whole post have done well in bringing a distinctly imaginative multisensory experience to your satisfaction.

Therefore, it is heartening to know that you have been substantially impressed by the Music Animation with Dynamic Visualization in conjunction with the special rendition of “Clair de Lune” presented in a visually striking format, where the fanciful animation starts calmly and gradually climaxes with the musical ebb and flow of “Clair de Lune”, as the Full Moon comes alive right before your eyes!

As for you “want[ing] to meet that person if he or she exists”, perhaps you might learn that the person has already been so taken, enamoured or possessed by the power and allure of the scintillating Full Moon that he or she may have little interest in any terrestrial being.

Since you like maroon, “[y]our biggest high school color” reminding you of your student days, SoundEagle🦅 has summoned the Pink Supermoon to accompany you at the upper right conner of this bespoke comment.

Given that you play the piano, and that you have enjoyed this post featuring a poem and piano music, SoundEagle🦅 would like to indulge you with a similar post containing both a poem and a piano piece. The difference is that the music is an original composition conceived by SoundEagle🦅, who has even made the scores available, so that you may learn to play the piece yourself. As mentioned elsewhere, I have a deep affinity for the moon, so this poem touched me in a special way. The imagery is so vital and lush, and the format…the format is flawless. It’s like holding a diamond up to the moonlight and seeing its facets shimmer and shine. What a joy to behold! As noted elsewhere, I was delighted to see that Northern Elm translated this into Chinese. If Northern Elm happens to read this comment, I want to say a big hello and I hope you’re doing well, my friend! SoundEagle, you’re immensely talented in many disciplines and I love your poetry. • Dear Michael,

Welcome! As mentioned before, since the sonic dimension of the poem has largely or totally eluded you due to your deafness, SoundEagle🦅 would like to inform you that the scintillating Full Moon as well as the eye-catching astronomical phenomena and stellar activities portrayed by the high-resolution Music Animation with Dynamic Visualization have been precisely synchronized to “Clair de Lune”, the third and most famous movement of Debussy’s Suite bergamasque. This suite for solo piano was initially composed around 1890 when the composer was 28 years old, but was significantly revised just before its publication in 1905.

A bespoke reply is owed to you for commenting with such a high degree of enthusiasm on the efforts of SoundEagle🦅. On the one hand, it is highly heartening and delightful that you have found the post in all its multimedia extravaganza enjoyable and satisfying. On the other hand, it is indeed very generous of you to compliment SoundEagle🦅, whom you deem to have composed a perfect tetrapartite poem named 🎴If My Name Were Moon Tonight🌕. Your remark in this regard constitutes not merely a high praise but also the first one to associate or equate the poem with “perfection” for its being “exquisite and deep and [having] resonated profoundly with [you]”. For the sake of providing the earlier contexts of our conversations about this tetrapartite moon-themed poem, two of your three comments submitted to the post entitled 🌕🎴 假如今夜我的名字叫月亮… (If My Name Were Moon Tonight…) 🌛🌝🎑🈷 are included here for posterity:

I penned this comment on my blog but wanted to share it here as well. I was excited to learn that Northern Elm translated your poem “If My Name Were Moon Tonight…” Northern Elm has been a visitor to my blog and has left some profoundly insightful comments on my poetry. I have a deep and abiding respect and admiration for Northern Elm’s poetry and it always leaves me in a contemplative state of mind. So, yes, I was delighted to discover Northern Elm did the translation of your poetry. I watched the video of your creation and while my deafness left me unable to appreciate the music, the visuals are stunning. What a wonderful piece! Such a collaborative effort–the translation of a poem from one language into another–would be such an intriguing and satisfying project, and one I hope to experience someday. Congratulations to both you and Northern Elm on your project! As I’m fluent in only one language, I can’t fathom the difficulties inherent in translating rhyming poetry into another language and keeping the rhyme scheme intact. Would that I could read Chinese so I could experience your translated poem in its glory. It’s a good example of art transcending cultural boundaries when a translation occurs, and exemplifies the idea that art is universal and brings people together. 🙂

What a wonderful comment you’ve written! Thank you so much for taking the time to create such a response. I neglected to mention in my previous comment that I did actually read the poem in its English translation (I followed a link) and was delighted by the sheer beauty and craftsmanship of the poem. The term “:perfection” comes to mind. It was exquisite and deep and resonated profoundly with me. I’m a bit of a selenophile (one who loves the moon) and I have several poems on my blog about the moon, so this piece really struck a chord with me. It’s beautiful, and honestly, it’s perfect. 🙂

As for the music, many years ago during my freshman year of college, I had a music class in which we studied many classical composers (this was back during the early stages of my deafness when I could still hear much better and could still appreciate music to a large degree). I recall listening to Debussy as part of the course.

So, I was able to enjoy the English version of your magnificent poem as well as the visuals of the video. I just missed out on the musical accompaniment. The overall experience was still amazing. 🙂

I’ve also finished reading your post about the poem translation from Chinese to English and I’ll leave a comment there, too.

Seriously, thank you for this. I’m deeply fascinated with Asian culture and art and would love to learn more. Your blog seems like a cornucopia of knowledge and resources. I’m wondering if you’re familiar with a blogger I follow named Friedrich Zettl. He’s an Austrian surrealist painter who has studied Chinese art for decades and is beyond peer when it comes to his style of painting, which includes abundant Chinese influences. He’s startlingly good. Here’s a link in case you’re interested in checking out his work:

      Thanks again, SoundEagle! 🙂

Thank you for your esteemed input. Since you have been fascinated by Asian culture and art, you are cordially invited to peruse the very post containing the earliest incarnation of the poem, conceived ten years ago. Unlike its later counterparts, this post prominently features a particular Chinese celebration as well as a number of topics of great interest to you, including food and photography. 🎴 If My Name Were Moon Tonight… 🌛🌝🎑🈷

Your foray into this earliest post will trace the lunar saga (comprising a triptych on the theme of the Full Moon) to its origin, thus completing the circle, so to speak.

  105. This is absolutely perfect. Did you know that the word for wolflike (howling at the moon) is Lupine?

  106. I imagine Luna and Gaia in sensual waltz, longing to be together, yet destined to remain forever separated but in sight.

The structure of the poem really generates that separation necessary to provoke the emotion of distance.

    Well done my friend!
